The Facts
About 12 million (17.1%) U.S. youth ages 2–19 are overweight. An additional 12 million are at risk of being overweight.
On a Mission
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation – a joint initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association – was formed to stop the nationwide increase in childhood obesity by 2010, and empower kids and teens nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Creating a Positive Force
In October 2006, Mars, Incorporated was one of the first companies – and the first confectionary company – to adopt the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Snack (Competitive) Foods Guidelines.
Now, Mars, Incorporated has created the GENERATION MAX™ Brand products line to demonstrate its commitment to fight against childhood obesity.
At Mars, we take pride in all of our products which can be enjoyed as part of a healthy lifestyle, but given the unique environment of schools, we are proud to support the initiative and become one of the first national snack food businesses to develop a line of snack foods specifically to meet the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Snack Foods Guidelines.
